Review :
This book, which aims to teach students how to be engaged citizens, emphasizes debate, deliberation, and persuasion on public contexts, while also stressing their artistic elements. Students using this book will learn the techniques of public advocacy and the value of public deliberation, understanding both as social action, within a context of ethical communication. It is the kind of book our political times require. -Mary E. Stuckey, Georgia State University, USA A thoughtful, methodical and inspiring handbook that shows students how to become engaged citizens by means of the spoken word, that is, eloquent transgressors of silence and public apathy. -John Poulakos, University of Pittsburgh, USA
