Review :
"Now more than ever our districts and CMOs need solid school leaders who can scale and sustain conditions for effective teaching and learning. Therefore, it’s imperative that our school systems strengthen their approaches to developing and supporting school leaders. Strategies for Developing and Supporting School Leaders offers a solid framework, tools, and stories from the field that system leaders will find extremely useful!" --Frederick Brown, Deputy Executive Director, Learning Forward "Quality leadership is essential to educational excellence and equity, making the preparation, selection and development of educational leaders critical. However, the development of principals is rarely prioritized due to lack of funds, expertise and competing district priorities. This book breathes life into this issue, offering research- and practice-based insight into why districts must take up the issue of school leadership development and how districts can build a strong and growth-oriented leadership pipeline. Of equal importance, Sanzo provides processes, strategies and tools that districts leaders can adopt or adapt as they grow and/or enrich their own leadership development programs." --Michelle Young, Executive Director of UCEA and Professor of Educational Leadership at University of Virginia "Many school districts, regardless of size, take a shotgun approach to growing leaders and frequently rely on higher education for succession planning. Sanzo's extensive experience in partnering with school districts to create an effective professional development system for school leaders is clearly spelled out in this book. As central office leaders look to fill an increasing number of vacancies in educational leadership positions, Sanzo's book serves as an excellent resource and roadmap that provides realistic strategies to ensure that candidate pools contain an adequate number of highly qualified individuals." --John A. Caggiano, Deputy Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction , Hampton City Schools, VA
