About the Book

This historic book may have numerous typos and missing text. Purchasers can usually download a free scanned copy of the original book (without typos) from the publisher. Not indexed. Not illustrated. 1855 edition. Excerpt: ... The political history of Norway during this period, from 930 to 1263, is the subject of the Heims-kringla, or the Sagas of the Norse Kings, by Snorro Sturleson, one of the greatest historians of the Middle Ages, to whose veracity numerous monuments in every part of Norway bear testimony. The spirit of Chivalry and Crusades has reached DENMARK about the middle of the Twelfth Century. Under the warlike kings of the Waldemarian dynaty, 1157-1241, the Danes carry the cross...
