The results of the table were obtained during the period of current; and although in later experiments I applied both dynamo and intermittent currents, the effects were nil. Warburg (loc. cit.) has shown that glass partially electrolyzed is a condenser of very measurable capacity, the dielectric being filmy silica. In the table, L is the length of the tube, a the length of the hot part (temperature 6=360), and h the length of the cold part (temperature #'=25), respectively. The mirror is at a distance V above the lower end. The rate of twist is r. Finally px is the outer radius, p2 the inner radius, q the material section of the tube...
