He knows nothing of how things is carried on beyond Dublin and its environs; he is about 40 years of age, 5-10high, stout made, about 14 stone weight, dark complexion, and very heavy eye-brows, and dark hair, flat footed, and in conversation generally makes use of the word ye's--do now. He understands what is going on, and is very fond of singing songs about '98 and in praise of his native place, and often states they are his own and a person named Reily's composition; he has left Liverpool, but to what part-7.gland he is gone we are not able to say--we heard so through a person named Thomas Finney, who knows where he is gone to, although he would not tell us. We got him to write a letter to Maurice, who we told him was very uneasy for not hearing from him, and that he stated he was gone 200 miles, but that he had no notion of going to America with a person named Patrick Long and, the former was a most particular friend of his, the latter his first cousin. I think you would do right to put the opposition on their guard against Pat Gafney, Finney, and Long. I hope you will pardon us for not meeting you according to promise--about five minutes before I left Liverpool, I had no notion of leaving for a day or two. With my best respects to all friends and to every other acquaintance, I have the honour to remain your friend, KICHARD JONES.
