Okahandja wurde nun der Standort der Jonkerschen. Der fruher fo schone, mit grossen Dornbaumen dicht bewaldete Platz wurde kahl gebrannt. Da, wo jetzt die Kirche steht, lag die grosse Werft Jonkers. Jn der Flache, wo jetzt die Garten der Weissen und der Missionsgarten sich befinden, hatten die Sklaven Jonkers, die Bergdamra, Kurbis-und Tabaksgarten angelegt, deren Wasserleitungsgraben noch im Jahre 1870 sichtbar waren. Jonker hatte sich durch den Englander Galton, der sich als einen Abgesandten des Gouverneurs vom Kap vorstellte und vorgab, die englische Regierung drohe ihm mit Krieg, falls er seine Raubzuge nicht einstelle, einschuchtern lassen. Daher die Friedensarbeit in der Anlage von Garten. Jonker liess die Herero eine kurze Zeit in Ruhe. Diese befehdeten sich unterdessen selbst in blutigen Fehden. Einer beraubte den andern, das ganze Land war voll Krieg. Das war Katjamuaha ganz nach Wunsch. Aber auch Jonker begriff bald genug, dass Galton weder
