Excerpt: ... saying he would have it, and took it away with him, which we consider a very ungentlemanly action." The Vestry Clerk quickly wrote out another Eate Book. On Sunday, August 13th, after the Church service, this book was signed by "the Revd and Worshipful Richard Davies, Vicar, the 2 Churchwardens, and the other Overseers." On Monday, August 14th, the Petty Sessions were held at Greenwich. "Mr Page, the Churchwarden, and the Vestry Clerk went into the Sessions room, where they found the 2 obstinate overseers to prevent the rate being signed. After much altercation on both sides, the Magistrates agreed to sign the Rate as being legal, which was done after the Sessions Clerk had given his concurrence." September 6, 1832. "A rate of 2d in the pound was made for the County Lunatic Asylum." July 11, 1839.
