Excerpt: ... Have heard Orthodox clergymen preach in Dedham. Never heard people differ very warmly about religion--not very. They don't differ much in Dedham; but go peaceably by one church to go to another. Hallett. State Greene's language in relation to the Morgan affair. Witness. He said he knew when it was a going to be done.. Hallett. When what was to be done? Witness. The Morgan kidnap. I asked him if it was done. He said it was. I told him I never believed it. Hallett. Do yon now? Witness. No: I don't. HaLlelt. I want nothing more of the witness. To Fletcher. I asked him if he told of it before it was done. He said lie did not; and that he dared not till some time after. Gxoroe W. Johhson. Has seen Greene occasionally. First saw him in Framingham; next at Dover. What I saw at Framingham was between him and another person. 1 went to the bar to get my horse. G. was engaged talking to a numlter of boys and others about masonry. He was telling what miserable scamps the masons were. The gentleman said he ought to have heard a toast that had just been given, and told him what it was. G. said, 'You ought to stay at home and get the toddy blossoms off of your face before you go to masonic celebrations.' Some conversation ensued, and G. said, 'If jou was not a boy, I would let you know I have not practised pugilism for nothing.' The gentleman is a strictly temperate man, and a member of a temperance society. Cross examined. The gentleman's name is Josiah N. Bird. The occurrence was at a public house in Framingham. I was never there before or since. I am not an antimason--am a mason. It was the celebration usually kept by masons, on the 34th of June. William J. Snkllino. Hallett.
