Les hernies different entre elles par rapport au lieu qu'elles occupent, aux parties qui les forment, a la maniere dont elles se sont developpees, au temps ou elles ont commence, au sexe et a l'age du sujet, a leur volume, a leur forme et a leur nature. 1 Differences relatives au siege.--Les hernies peuvent se former dans presque tous les points du bas-ventre; mais ordinairement elles arrivent a sa partie anterieure et inferieure, ou la paroi abdominale est depourvue de fibres musculaires et ou se trouvent des ouvertures naturelles par lesquelles passent des vaisseaux, des ligaments, etc.; elles se forment le plus souvent a l'aine, au pli de la cuisse, a l'ombilic; elles ont lieu rarement a la ligne blanche, plus rarement encore dans le vagin, a la partie interne superieure de la cuisse, a sa partie superieure et posterieure, au perinee.
