Die Bedingung, durch welche der Gebrauch des Looses eingeschrankt wird, ist verstandlich; unter dieser Bedingung aber wird es nicht nur sur die Gemeinde als solche, sondern auch sur jeden empsohlen. Demgemass ist 1733 Martin Dober durch das Loos zum Aeltetesten berusen, und 1734 Zinzendors's Entschluss, in den geistlichen Stand zu treten, durch das Loos bestatigt worden. Nachher muss man vorsichtiger in dem Gebrauch geworden sein; aber die Sache bleibt unklar. Es sieht sehr nach Verdunkelung der Thatsachen aus, wenn Zinzendors 1745 solgende Erklarungen DEGREES) abgiebt, uberall in der evangelischen Kirche werde das Loos in gesahrlicheren Dingen, so wie in obrigkeitlichen und Ministerialsachen an vielen Orten entscheidender gebraucht, als bei uns, und dessen Gebrauch sei, ausser unserer Kirche vom ersten Synodus 1736 an, niemals ganzlich verboten worden, bei uns aber aus alleu Synodis offentlich widerrathen und beinahe unter Gemeindezucht gestellt. Den starkern Gebrauch des Looses in anderen Lebenskreisen spiegelt der Gras nur vor, um das Verbot desselben in der Brudergemeinde gebuhrend in das Licht zu stellen. Nur kann diese Angabe nicht eontrollirt werden, und ist wahrscheinlich eine Uebertreibung. Denn nach jenem Zeitpunkt hat Zinzendors 1742 aus den Conserenzen in Pennsylvanien das Loos angewendet, um die Fulle der Antrage seiner seetirerischen Colloquenten einzuschranken. Zugleich hat er vor der Benutzung des Looses gewarnt, wenn dabei die geringsten Nebenabsichten obwalteten, hat also die oben erwahnte Bedingung wiederholt.
