1822. .: ... Ad, o l p y. DEGREESoor ungefahr 500 Iahren lebte in Deutschland ein edler Graf, der sich Adolph von Fliehberg nannte. Seine Gattinn, war eine Schwester des edelsten Ritters seiner Zeit Ekberts von Schenkenstein. Beyoe standen wegen ihrer Tapferkeit und ihrem hohen Much be- allen Rittern der ganzen Gegend in grossem Ansehen. Besonders aber war Adolph von Fliehberg wegen seiner Gottesfurcht und seinem christ, lichen Sinn und Wandel allgemein bekannt und beliebt. Danin, nannte man sein Schloss auch den Fliehberg, d. h. den Berg, wohin die Bedrangten mid Armen flohen, um bey dem milden und. gerechten AZolvh Hulfe und Zuflucht zu sinden. Es trauerte allemal die ganze Gegend, wenn Adolph, als ein Basal des Kaisers, in den Krieg musste. Und als er und sein Schwager Ekbert mit dem deutschen Heere nach Italien zogen, war Alles untrostlich; denn die guten Leute furchteten, sie wurden in einem so fernen Lande ihren Wohlthater verlieren, der auch in seiner Abwesenheit fur sie gesorgt hatte. Doch ehe noch ein Iahr -ttflossen war, kehrte das Heer siegreich ins Baterland 1 zuruck. Kaum waren Adolph und Ekbert auf ihren Burgen angekommen, mussten sie sich neuerdings zum Kampfe rusten, weil der erregte Aufruhr der unruhigen Italiener die Gegenwart des Kaisers und feiner Armee nothwendig machte. Diesmal konnte Graf Adolph nicht in die Schlacht ziehen, weil er wegen der vielen ausgestandenen Strapatzen und einer bedeutenden Wunde, die er erhalten, krank wurde. Es sollte also Ekbert ohne seinen getreuen Gefahrte, in Freuden und Leiden allein fort in den Krieg. Dies schmerzte ihn sehr. Auch den Kranken kam es hart an, weil er fur das Leben seines Freundes bekummert war. Denn er wusste nur zu gut, dass dieser sich ofters blindlings vor lauter Much und Eifer mitten unter die Feinde sturzte. Ia er hatte ein paarmal fur seine Hitze mit dem Leben
