Herzlichen Dank fur Hompeschs Brief. Der Inhalt soll in meiner Seele ewig begraben bleiben. Der edle, gute Mann dauert mich. Alles, was er von Nosemund schreibt, ist wahr. Nichts ist gewisser, als dass ich fur das Dramatische gar keinen Sinn habe. Ich sehe nun hintendrein alles, was ihr wollt, und mehr dazu; aber der arme Schweizer hat nun bald drei Aete ganz herrlich eomponirt, und der allein dauert mich. Weimar, den 4ten Jun. Hompesch hat mir nun auch geschrieben und die Einsendung des Stucks sehr urgirt. Meine Antwort muss ich aus zwei Ursachen noch verschieben, 1. weil ich erst noch mit Schweizer sprechen muss, dessen Composition der drei ersten Aete zum Entzucken schon ist; 2. weil ich eine Antwort von dem Musik. In, tendanten, Grafen Portia, abwarten will, dem ich geschrieben habe, dass ich das Stuck fur dieses Iahr nicht liefern konne, weil es in den letzten Aeten sehr verandert werden musse. Wenn ich nur einen Ausweg finde, das Ding anders zu entwickeln, so wird es durch Schweizers Composition immer ein Stuck, das man gern horen wird, und vielleicht mehr, als ihr Genien euch alle einbildet. Indessen habe ich von dem Augenblick an, da dieses Geschopf (woran ich in dem seligsten Irrthum des Wohlgefallens gearbeitet) einen so fatalen Eindruck auf Dich gemacht hat, alle Anmuthung dazu verloren, und es ist mir verdriesslich, dass ich davon reden soll, und noch verdriesslicher, dass ich in der..."
