Per noi italiani una sola basterebbe, ma non per questo e' e a prendere meraviglia: e noto abbastanza che la dove i latini pongono in ischiera piu che due sostantivi, o sogliono costituirne un asindeto, o un polisindeto. Ma la meraviglia comincia se volgiamo l' attenzione alla specie di queste particelle congiuntive; non sono gia esse uguali; la prima e un que, la seconda un et. Che se ne ha a conchiudere? -- Che qui non e piu possibile vedere una semplice addizione di tre membri distinti ( a + b + e ). Con un - que... et e piu che lecito, a imitazione specialmente del greco, di collegare due soli sostantivi; ma non puo gia essere permesso di preporne a questi un terzo pari di grado agli altri due.
