Excerpt: Abraham Van Hellsing is a Dutch doctor with a wide range of interests and accomplishments, partly attested by the string of letters that follows his name: "M.D., D.Ph., D.Litt., etc., etc." The character is best known as a vampire hunter, and the arch-enemy of Count Dracula. Abraham Van Helsing is an ancestor of Sir Integra Fairbrook Wingates Hellsing. It was because of Van Helsing that Alucard had ended up bound to his family, which set up much of the story's situations.It is suggested that the Hellsing Organization was founded by Abraham Van Helsing shortly after the events of Bram Stoker's novel as a response to the threat posed by vampires after his encounter with Dracula.
