Excerpt: Absolute ) is an advanced level spell in the Tales series, usually of the Ice element. Absolute is an arte that usually forms a jagged block of ice on the spot that the target is occupying, freezing them then smashing the ice block in an explosion, dealing further damage. The actual effectiveness of the arte differs between games. In Tales of Eternia, Absolute is a Craymel Arte available to Meredy and Keele Zeibel, after fringing the Greater Craymels Celsius and Volt. It is also used by the optional boss of the postgame dungeon, Nereid. In this game, the arte forms a spike of ice on the ground where the target was standing at the end of the incantation, and if it hits, it will freeze the enemy into a ball of ice, which then shatters. Tales of Symphonia sees this arte used by Genis Sage, where it is learned at Level 44 if Genis is on the Strike side. In addition to these two requirements, Genis must also have the Freeze Lancer and Grave spells at 50 or more uses. Once all of these are fulfilled, Genis will learn Absolute.
