Excerpt: Amalak is an alien foe of Superman who started out as a space pirate but later was fueled by a grudge against all Kryptonians, vowing to kill every last one of them. Amalak also fought Supergirl, Flash and Green Lantern. He once allied himself with the Kryptonian criminal Nam-Ek, and was one of the nine 'ultimate foes' of Superman assembled by the alien Xviar. He took his life trying to trick Superman into believing himself to be a killer. Amalak had an alien ray-gun that could take out even Superman. Angler was a hulking man who had spent enough time aboard the Dutchman to take on the appearance of various aquatic flora and fauna. His head had transformed in that of an Anglerfish.
