Background Born on Sarrelon II, Akilah knew only the life of a military father and mother whose life kept them out of the home for most of Akilah's childhood. The local Air Force and Army on constant alert or maneuvers left little time for raising their four kids which meant that their tutors for schooling and coaches for sporting events were the only real mentors the young ones had. Being absent that much created a very independent generation of children who then took it upon themselves to direct their future paths. Being the second of four, Akilah spent much of her time tending to her younger brother and sister until they reached eight and nine when they became self sufficient in the kitchen.
