Excerpt: Adam Brody is a male Tau'ri engineer who participated in the Stargate program, and was stationed at Icarus Base. He and roughly 80 people were forced to evacuate Icarus Base during an attack against the base by three Ha'tak vessels. He ended up on the Destiny, an Ancient spaceship located several billion light years from Earth. One of his first duties on the ship was to help Nicholas Rush repair the failing life support system, working alongside Lisa Park. After Rush "told" the ship of the issues, and the ship Gated to a desert planet, Rush requested Brody be on the off world team, but that was overruled by Colonel Young, who wanted Brody to help fix the problem in the ship. (SGU: "Air, Part 1," "Air, Part 2") Brody admitted during a Kino message that from the moment he stepped through a Stargate, he had the terrible feeling that he would die in space. He can translate Ancient, though with some difficulty. While Dr. Rush was incapacitated or otherwise preoccupied with more pressing matters, Brody translated all of the controls of the Ancient shuttle. (SGU: "Darkness") When it was believed Destiny would be destroyed by colliding with a star, Brody was one of the seventeen who were selected to board the Ancient shuttle to the Goldilocks zone planet.
