Excerpt: The Actuator Complexity System (ACS) is system introduced in Armored Core 4. The NEXT's new and improved system of control which far surpasses that of Normals in terms of precision. Originally researched and developed by Aldra, poor data management has cost them a great deal of advantage in the field. It is now looked at among Companies as a comparatively easily surpassed engineering hurdle. The Allegorical Manipulation System (AMS) is a modern piloting system created by Professor Jarnefeldt, possibly while under contract to Aspina. It can only be used by LYNX, due to their special traits. This gives them control over their NEXTs that is far greater than other pilots. The pilot's nerves are literally wired, or "linked," into the NEXT's electronics, allowing lightening-fast reaction time and perfect 1:1 manipulation. It does have a side effect though. Pilots with low AMS compatibility are often put under a great deal of stress, which, over time, can drive the pilot insane, and even kill them. Pilots with high compatibility, like the protagonist and most high-rank...
