Excerpt: The 1st Klien Mechanized are a armoured/mechanized regiment that operates in the Klien sector of Imperial space, an area constantly under threat of assimilation into the ever growing Tau empire. The 1st Klien mechanized started life as part of the imperial army detachment under the 5th imperial expeditionary fleet under the command of the Alpha Legion. When the legion turned to Chaos they attempted to convert almost the entire fleet and destroy all those who remained loyal. Large parts of the army detachment turned to Chaos notably the artillery and infantry groups. Large numbers of the armoured and mechanized formations however remained loyal to the Emperor.
