Excerpt: Apple I is a prototype and limited production computer that sold in limited numbers. This computer was made for hobbyists with it's built-in BASIC compiler. The Apple I was the predecessor of the Apple II family which had the industry's first color graphics computers for consumers, and not to mention the predecessor to Apple Inc. itself (then known as Apple Computer). Unlike the Apple II and other computers after it, the Apple I had wooden casing. But manufacturers switched to metal and plastic casing for future models of computers due to economic benefits as consumers depended more on cut price than aesthetics albeit the cheaper manufacturing method started a new set of retro aesthetics.
