Excerpt: ...Richard, now Earl of Shannon, upon the Society's Application for further Aid, has been pleafed to propofe upon Surrender of the prefent Grants, and upon certain other Conditions for the Improvement of the School Houfe and Lands, to be defrayed by the Application of an Arrear of Rent due for the fame to the faid late Earl, to grant to the Society a new Leafe of the laid Twenty-two Acres of Land, Rent-free in Perpetuity, fo long as a School for Twenty Boys and Twenty Girb fhall be kept there, which Propofal the Society did agree moft thankfully to accept. The Lands are reported to be worth about 13!, los. yearly. N- XXX..;., ....., -' N9 XXX. CLONTARF, or ROYAL CHARTER SCHOOL, County of Dublin'. - TP HIS School conhrts of One ILnJred Boys, and was opened in November, 1749 The late William M'Caufland, Efq; granted to the Society, for the Accommodation of this School, 10 A. and 20 P. of Land, for Ninety-five Years, from the 2fth of March, 1747, at the yearly Rent of Forty Pounds Ten Shillings, Sterling. And John Vernon, Efq; granted to the Society a Reverfionary Leafe of the faid Land for Four Hundred Years, from the 2;th of March, which will be in the Year 1843, at the like yearly Rent of Forty Pounds Ten Shillings, Sterling.
