A man who has read of the bloody conflicts, the fieges, the seaengagements, the loss of men, and consumption of money, that the wars with the French in the Carnatic, has cost the English nation, would naturally imagine, that immense: advantages must have accrued from the peaceable possession of this whole coast, from Point Palmiras to Ceylon, for so long a term of years. To fet him right, I refer him to the Company's accounts, which, after he has perused, my word for it, he will come over to my opinion, that the Company, by their present policy, are but digging a grave for the national commerce on the coast of Coromandel: And if they injudiciously permit the present growing military spirit at Bombay, to induce them to quit the Island of Salser, and plant the national colours on the continent on that fide the peninsula, the whole of their possessions in Asia, will be involved in war, anarchy, and desolation.
