Excerpt: ...her my mannsion house or castle of Chillingham, with the demeanes, tythes and rents of Chillingham, during her wyddowhead, (and if she doo dwell and contynew in this countrye, ) and then to return to my brother Raphe Gray, as follower. And my wyll is, that all suche leases, as I have geven her, by this my testamente, shall, after her decease, returne to myne heire, accordinge to suche covenantes, as are sett downe, by indenture, betwixt the ladye Katheriu Constablet and me, bearing date the 27th of Aprill, 27 Eliz. Also I geve unto my said wife all my household stuft'e, my plaite excepted. To my brother Raphe, my leases of the tythe corne sheaves of Chillingham, (after the foresaide gyfte geven unto my wyfe, ) and also the tythe corne &c, of the New Towne, within the parishe of Chillingham, and of the twoo Myddletons, within the parishe of Ilderton, and the lease of Elwick, with xx oxen therr, also my baye stoned horse. To my brother Edward, for the tearme of xxj yeares, or for his lyfe, att his choyse, the townes of Myndrum and Kyllam, and also th'east fields of Killam and the Haghouse. To my brother Henrye, for xxj yeares, or for the lyves of hym and his sonne Thomas Graye, all my demeanes, and the myll, of Heeton. To my brother Roger all suche landes &c, in Doddington, as The head of the ancient and distinguished house of Grey.
