Uittreksel: Hubertus Gerardus Josephus Henricus (Huub) Oosterhuis (Amsterdam, 1 november 1933) is een Nederlandse theoloog, dichter, ex-jezuiet en priester. Zijn naam is verbonden aan de modernisering van de katholieke kerk na het Tweede Vaticaanse Concilie en de daarmee nog steeds gepaard gaande polarisatie tussen traditionalisten en vernieuwers. Oosterhuis volgde het door jezuieten geleide gymnasium van het Ignatiuscollege te Amsterdam. In 1952 trad hij in bij de jezuieten. De jezuietenopleiding voerde hem langs Grave, Nijmegen, Groningen en Maastricht. Op 31 juli 1964 werd hij door bisschop Moors in de Sint-Servaasbasiliek te Maastricht tot priester gewijd. Sinds 1965 woont en werkt Oosterhuis in Amsterdam. Daar schreef hij zijn eerste liturgische gezangen waarvoor hij de samenwerkte met Bernard Huijbers, musicus, componist en toen eveneens jezuiet. Samen schreven zij er een paar honderd - in gestencilde, losbladige, almaar groeiende uitgaven. Deze liederen waren om te beginnen bedoeld voor gebruik in de Amsterdamse Studentenekklesia, die in 1960 door de jezuiet Jan van Kilsdonk was gesticht. Later vond vooral het eenvoudiger werk van Oosterhuis-Huijbers zijn weg naar veel parochie...
