Excerpt: Ayame is a little girl who appears in kamiden. She is found in Yakushi Village, a village for the sick, where she appears to be unimpressed with Issun's tale of Amaterasu and his drawings. She later calls Chibiterasu a white puppy, showing that she does not believe in the gods and cannot see his markings. She later says that she has an incurable disease, which explains why she lives in Yakushi Village. Further into the plotline, it is revealed that Ayame's disease shortens her life, and currently has less than a year to live. Because of this, her last wish is to at least see Tama's fireworks, which she considers to be beautiful. Later on, Chibiterasu and Kagu bring medicine from Dr. Bluebeard to Dr. Redbeard, and both medicines are combined to create the ultimate medicine, saving Ayame's life, as long as she continues to drink the medicine. Following this, she is ecstatic to hear that she can now travel anywhere in Nippon, including the city. Ayame, her mother, Dr. Redbeard, Kagu, and Chibiterasu then watch another fireworks show by Tama to celebrate this miracle.
