Median rectrices steel-blue with white shafts, lateral ones steel-blue at base, then brownishwhite with brown shafts. Wings purple-brown. Bill black. Total length, 4 in. Wing, 1 in. Tail, 3 in. Culmen, T7g in. Female. Upper surface bronzy-green with a white band across the rump. Chin black; a white line from the angle of bill. Throat spotted with green. Tail short.
