As further showing the maliciousness of defendant's said slanderous words, plaintiff alleges that no one knew better than did defendant, how loyal plaintiff 42 bad been to her and her son's interests, in her husband's estate, and in the estate of her deceased husband's father, who was a very old man, and whose estate was expected to be of the value of several million of dollars, and defendant has so freely expressed her appreciation of what plaintiff did for her, and of his honorable conduct in respect to the matter of compensation, that defendant's own statements have only to be shown by the examination of defendant herself, to show how utterly malicious her said slanderous words were and are. That as further showing how wantonly malicious 43 the said slanderous words so spoken by defendant of plaintiff were and are, plaintiff further shows this honorable Court that it would not be possible for an attorney or counsellor to treat a client more fairly or honorably in respect to compensation than the defendant was treated by the plaintiff, and that the plaintiff did so honorably treat defendant, has been not only certified to by the defendant herself, but such fact is further shown by the following extract from a letter written by plaintiff to the defenadnt in May, 1905, in which plaintiff wrote defendant, referring to a proposed interview with an uncle, that: "Reflection has made me decide that I can "not call at your hotel and see him without it 44 "having the appearance of my thereby seeking "to influence you or him in respect to your "future course as to who will be your...
