Ainsi dans l'expression de Julien Gracq (Un balcon en foret), Son rire de pluie fraiche, l'auteur decrit le rire de la jeune fille rencontree dans les bois un jour pluvieux en l'associant a une pluie aux connotations particulieres (bruit, purete, nature) faisant du personnage feminin une nymphe qui seduit le jeune lieutenant cantonne dans la foret des Ardennes. La metaphore constitue ainsi une utilisation suggestive et expressive de la langue. De facon plus generale, la metaphore recouvre par sa forme raccourcie tous les usages de l'image en se differenciant de la comparaison (entendue au sens stylistique) par l'absence d'outil de rapprochement ( comme, ressembler a, pareil a... ) qui rend plus forte l'association des deux termes et souligne une equivalence dans la metaphore annoncee avec compare et comparant, (par exemple: Bergere, o tour Eiffel, Apollinaire, Zone), ou emploi du verbe etre, ( La nature est un temple, Baudelaire, Correspondances), qui peut aller jusqu'a la substitution dans la metaphore directe avec le comparant seul qui rend...
