Il est egalement fondateur d'Acting International. Robert Cordier est ne en 1933 a Binche, du champion cycliste Adrien Cordier et de Emilie Gressier. En 1949 il debute sur scene dans La Veuve joyeuse, avec une troupe d'amateurs de Binche. La meme annee il integre l'ecole de cinema de Cine Revue. Recu par Francoise Rosay, marraine de l'ecole, il tourne bientot dans Ah qu'il fait bon chez nous d'Emile-Georges De Meyst. Il entre ensuite au Rideau de Bruxelles ou il rencontre le mime Marceau qui l'invite a venir travailler avec lui a Paris.
