Extrait: Emery Molyneux, mort en juin 1598, etait un fabricant de globes, d'instruments mathematiques et d'armes de l'epoque elisabethaine. Ses globes terrestres et celestes, presentes pour la premiere fois en 1592, furent a la fois les premiers crees en Angleterre et les premiers fabriques par un Anglais. Molyneux etait connu comme mathematicien et fabricant d'instruments mathematiques tels que sabliers et boussoles. Il devint familier avec nombre d'hommes eminents de l'epoque comme l'ecrivain Richard Hakluyt et les mathematiciens Robert Hues et Edward Wright. Il connut egalement les explorateurs Thomas Cavendish, Francis Drake, Walter Raleigh et John Davis. Davis a probablement presente Molyneux a son propre patron, le marchand londonien William Sanderson, qui financa largement la construction des globes.
