Passionn de rock, apprenti guitariste, coutant en boucle Carl Perkins, pour ensuite tre sduit par les dhanchements du King, les mlodies suaves de Buddy Holly et l'pret du blues noir amricain. Il fonde avec son frre Peter: The Rebels, sa premire formation. lve au Liverpool Institute, il y retrouve un ami d'enfance Paul McCartney qui lui propose de rejoindre, en compagnie de John Lennon, les Quarrymen. Il a peine 15 ans. George Harrison entour de Paul McCartney et de John Lennon? C'est en fvrier 1958 que John Lennon, sur l'insistance de Paul McCartney, l'engage comme guitariste solo. Il devient le plus jeune membre des Quarrymen. En 1960, ils deviennent les Beatles et se produisent, entre autres, dans les botes striptease de Hambourg et Liverpool. Le premier sjour des Beatles dans le port allemand est interrompu le 16 dcembre 1960, George Harrison tant expuls du pays car il est encore mineur.
