Excerpt: M ne ti is a commune in Dambovi a County, Romania, in the valley of the Dambovi a River, at a distance of 14 km northwest of Targovi te. It was formerly part of plasa Voine ti and between 1952 and 1968 it was part of Ploie ti region. In 1968, the current administration was set and since, it is part of Dambovi a County. It is composed of three villages: Dr g e ti-P manteni (colloquially "Dr g e ti"), Dr g e ti-Ungureni (colloquially "Ungureni") and M ne ti. M ne ti and Dr g e ti are on the right bank of the Dambovi a River, while Ungureni is on the left bank. The name of M ne ti is derived from "Manea" (a Romanian first name), the name of Dr g e ti from "Drag" (meaning "dear" in Romanian) and the name of Ungureni from "Ungurean" (people from the Hungarian lands, i.e. Transylvania), as Romanians from Transylvania, then ruled by Hungary, settled in this place. As of 2002, it had a population of 4,669. 96.6% of inhabitants were of Romanian ethnicity; 3.4% were Roma (Gypsies), concentrated in the village of Dr g e ti. In 1924, it had a population of 3,123. Most people are farmers, among the crops are apples and pears, as well as maize and wheat. A part of the inhabitants commute to Targovi te, which is the closest city. Also, there used to be some petroleum extraction in the region, but the resources ended. In Ungureni, there was also a petroleum storage depot, but it was disbanded in the 1990s. Moroeni is a commune in Dambovi a County, southern Romania, with a population of 5,000 people. The commune is composed of six villages: Dobre ti, Glod, Lunca, Moroeni, Mu cel and Pucheni. The village name of Glod means "mud" in Romanian. The village is located near the towns of Pucioasa and Fieni. Glod, a Gypsy village, was a shooting location for the mockumentary film Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan, representing Borat's home village of Kuzcek, Kazakhstan.
