Excerpt: Ayler Records is a record label which specializes in free jazz and improvised music recordings. Founded in 2000 in Sweden by Jan Strom and painter Ake Bjurhamn, it has gained recognition among free jazz fans over the years by releasing both archive and contemporary recordings from artists as diverse as Albert Ayler, Jimmy Lyons, Noah Howard, Peter Brotzmann, Henry Grimes, Hamid Drake, William Parker, Assif Tsahar or Charles Gayle. In 2009, Ayler Records has moved to France where it is now operated by Stephane Berland who had joined the label in 2005. (Ayler Records catalog is composed of both cd releases - in bold - and download-only releases)
