I think, allowing all this to be correct, that the dirt that is collected will more than counteract that good effect, and I can get the best light through ground-glass by turning the ground side in. IMPROVED SASH FOR SKYLIGHT. In the spring of 1870 I had my light broken IMPROVED SASH FOE SKYLIGHT. 43 out by a hailstorm; I wished to make my light larger, and the old sash being iron, I went to see what I could get a new sash for, sufficient to enlarge my light. When the water gets through your light it will run down on the glass until it comes to the top of the next pane, then it will run each way until it comes to the sash. The gutter being so far from the glass it passes over and comes to the shoulder the glass rests on, then it runs into the gutter and is conducted out of doors. The cut will give you an end view of the sash, which is very easy to make. The main difficulty will be to get your carpenter to plane them deep enough, and a quarter of an inch lower thah the shoulder that is to support the glass. The sash should be made quite heavy; this will prevent the cracking of the glass in heavy windy weather by the springing of the sash. I have...
