BILL A AN ACT for the Appointment of a Board of Tax Commissioners and to Define Their Duties; for a State Tax upon Corporations; for the Regulation of Taxation; and Amending Chapters Thirtynine, Fifty-six, Fifty-seven, Fifty-eight, Sixty, Two Hundred Three, and Two Hundred Fifteen of the G-eneral Laws. It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: BOARD OF TAX COMMISSIONERS. Section 1. There shall be a board of tax commissioners for 2 the state consisting of three qualified electors, who shall not all 3 be of the same political party and who shall be severally sworn to 4 the faithful performance of the duties enumerated in this act and 5 such others as are or may be from time to time prescribed by law, 6 and who shall hold office for the terms of their appointment or 7 until their successors respectively shall be appointed and qualified 8 to act. At the present session of the general assembly the gov 9 ernor, with the advice and consent of the senate, shall appoint 10 three such persons to be members of the board of tax commis 11 sioners; one to hold office until the first day of February, A. D. 12 1918, one to hold office until the first day of February, A. D. 1916, /I 13 and one to hold office until the first day of February. A. D. 1914. 14 The governor shall designate one of the members of said board so 15 appointed by him at the present session of the general assembly 16 as chairman of said board, and thereafter the members thereof 17 shall elect one of their number as chairman upon the appointment 18 of any new member for a full term. In the month of January, 19 A. D. 1914, and in the month of January in each second year 20 thereafter, the governor, with the advice and consent of the 21 senate, shall appoint one commissioner to hold...
