After Berthier's letter dated from Wilna, Junot became more easy in his mind. I received a letter from him dated from Mojaisk; it was written in a cheerful tone, and he spoke almost jokingly of the climate and the cannon-balls of the Russians. I subjoin this letter. It is curious, inasmuch as it shews how easily Junot was impressed with any thing which came from the Emperor. An assurance of regard rendered him happy--an unkind word reduced him to despair.
