Ses affections toutefois n'etoient que pour la premiere, de sorte que cette amour mutuelle n'eut point eu d'obstacle sans Clitandre. Ce cavalier etoit le mignon du Prince, fils unique du Roi, qui pouvoit tout sur la Reine sa mere, dont cette fille dependoit; et de la procedoient les refus de la Reine toutes les fois que Rosidor la supplioit d'agreer leur mariage. Ces deux damoiselles, bien que rivales, ne laissoient pas d'etre amies, d'autant que Dorise feignoit que son amour n'etoit que par galanterie, et comme pour avoir de quoi...
