There was recovered from this 71 tons 500-lbs. zinc concentrate and 16 tons 200lbs. lead concentrates, making an average of about 2V2 tons an hour. This mill was erected by A. W. Granniss of Joplin, Mo., and will treat 100 tons mine dirt in 10 hours. The mill will be put into commission working full time as soon as the ore market shows some further improvement. A calciner will probably be added before many months. Work is being done on a pure sheet of concentrated ore which is matted or intermixed in most places with jack and lead, and while portions of the vein is of free jack which does not need the mill treatment, the greater portion of the product must go through the mill to make the separation of the two minerals. This ore body occurs at only 26 ft. from the surface, and it has been proven up by drifts on the trend of the ore vein for 305 ft., and by drilling for an additional 900 feet. The width is over 50 ft., and the average thickness of the first sheet or flat to which the present work is confined is about 36 inches. J. H. Quinn is manager. CANADA. ONTARIO. Cobalt.
