(d) That soul was the same which animated His body before death: for He adds: these are the words which I spoke to you whilst I was with you. It was then the same body and the same soul. It was the same soul that remained always united to the Divinity, and testified that Divinity after the Eesurrection by the miracle of catching the fishes; by breathing on the Apostles the Holy Ghost; by ascending into heaven; and thus showing, since the Divinity never was so united to any human soul but only in that Person, that this was the same soul with which He lived and wrought all the miracles before. He rose again: God raised Him up on the third day, and openly, not unto all the people, but unto witnesses chosen beforehand of God, unto us who did eat and drink with Him after His resurrection 9. The Eesurrection from the dead of Christ is attested: --(a) By His appearance to His Apostles and Disciples. 1. To His Blessed Mother according to tradition, and for many congruous reasons. 2. To Mary Magdalene, who at first took Him for the gardener. (St. John xx. 11-18.) 3. To the ministering women, whom He bade tell His disciples to go into Galilee, where they should see Him. (St. Matthew xxviii. 9, 10.) 4. To the two disciples journeying to Emmaus, to whom He was revealed in the breaking of bread. (St. Luke xxiv. 13-33.) 5. To St. Peter: The Lord is risen indeed, and hath appeared to Simon. (St. Luke xxiv. 34.) 6. To the ten Apostles (Thomas beiDg absent). (St. Luke xxiv. 36-48; St. John xx. 24.)
