About the time that these measures were adopted in this city, many of the county medical societies throughout the state, especially those that had received the circular letter addressed to them by Dr. Tillary, were convened, and memorials prepared, expressing their sentiments relative to the utility of the botanic garden and soliciting the state to purchase the same for the benefit of the medical schools. The zeal manifested upon this subject by the medical societies of the counties of Clinton, Ulster, Niagara, Saratoga and Dutchess, reflects much credit upon the presidents and members of those institutions.
