Excerpt: ... In 1895, the Rev. M. L. Gates, who was sent to Bethel by the conference, exchanged charges with the Rev. J. H. Howard, D. D., of Asbury M. E. Church, Wilmington, Del., and Dr. Howard served out that year and 1896, when he was succeeded by the present pastor, the Rev. Richard Johns. In 1895, the annual conference was held in Bethel Church, Bishop Hurst presiding. BETHEL'S PASTORS. Below we give the names and date of service of the'different pastors, who have been appointed to Bethel Church since it was set apart from Woodrow M. E. Church, as a separate charge: 1841-2--Wesley Robertson, died at Jacksonville, Fla., Nov. 2nd, 1864, aged 57 years; 29 years in ministry. 1843-4--Isaac N. Felch, died at Hackettstown, N. J., March 24th, 1876, aged 69 years; 45 years in ministry. 1845-6--James H. Dandy, died at Rahway, N. J., May 12th, 1882, aged 84 years; 56 yearsin ministry. 1847-8--Sedgwick Rusling, died at Lawrence, Pa., May 7th, 1876, aged 77 years; 50 vears in minis try. 1849-50--Mulford Day, died at Hackettstown, N. J., June 26th, 1851, aged 50 years; 18 years in ministry. 1851-2--John Fort, died at Blackwoodstown, N. J., Aug. 7th, 1875, 'aged 59 years; 33 years in ministry. 1853-4--Henry B. Beegle, died at Ocean Grove, N.J., March 20th, 1882, aged 71 years; 34 years in ministry. 1855-6--John I. Morrow, supernumerary, residence at Newark, N. J.; entered ministry 1846. 1857-8--Charles S. Coit, died at Irvington, N. J., March 6th. 1898, aged 76 years; 51 years in ministry. 1859-6o--John S. Swaim. died at Jacksonville, Fla., Nov. 18th, 1875, aged 69 years; 41 years in ministry. 1861--Benjamin Kelley, died at Port Jervis, N.
