About the Book

In this second edition, Michael Norton's classic text has been extensively updated to take into account recent developments in the field. Much of the new material has been provided by Denis Karczub, who joins Michael as second author for this edition. This book treats both noise and vibration in a single volume, with particular emphasis on wave-mode duality and interactions between sound waves and solid structures. About the Author :
Michael P. Norton is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering in the Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering at the University of Western Australia, the Director of the Centre for Acoustics, Dynamics and Vibration at that University, and a Foundation Director of SVT - Engineering Consultants. Denis G. Karczub is Principal Engineer at SVT - Engineering Consultants. He studied mechanical engineering at the University of Western Australia, graduating with honours in 1991, and going on to obtain his PhD in 1997.
