Review :
“Drs. Sayegh and Penberthy's Group Workbook is the essential resource for patients engaging in Group-CBASP—an effective treatment for persistent depression. Skillfully synthesizing the interpersonal circumplex approach with classic exercises, the Workbook offers patients a structured and accessible way to understand their interpersonal dynamics and to practice goals, attitudes, and actions that can create more reliably rewarding social relationships.”—Kenneth D. Locke, PhD, Professor, Department of Psychology and Communication Studies, University of Idaho “With the Group Workbook for Treatment of Persistent Depression: Cognitive Behavioral Analysis System of Psychotherapy (CBASP) Patient's Guide, Drs. Sayegh and Penberthy have developed an important tool to help people with persistent depression overcome their many years of suffering. This workbook, used in group therapy, distills CBASP, typically a complex treatment for individuals with persistent depression, into a hands-on, accessible, user-friendly treatment.”—Eric Levander, M.D., M.P.H., D.F.A.P.A., Assistant Clinical Professor, David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, Distinguished Fellow, American Psychiatric Association “Drs. Sayegh and Penberthy have masterfully undertaken the task of treating individuals struggling with persistent or chronic depression utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Analysis System of Psychotherapy (CBASP) in a group format. This thoughtful, comprehensive, and creative treatment manual is beautifully written in this easy-to-use workbook. CBASP is the only evidence-based psychotherapy model developed specifically for persistent depressive disorder, and now there is an innovative approach to administering CBASP in a group format!”—Sarah Meshberg-Cohen, PhD, Yale School of Medicine, VA Connecticut Health Care System “This Patients’ workbook for the treatment of Persistent Depression is a unique point of reference for the adaptation of CBASP to a group modality. It provides a clear step-by-step description of the group therapy process and it is presented with remarkable understanding, empathy, and motivational energy! I highly recommend this book as a comprehensive and systematic guide for patients and clinicians alike.”—Massimo Tarsia, PhD, DClinPsychol., Clinical Psychologist, NHS Lothian, Scotland, U.K.
