About the Book

The issue of behaviour has, and always will be, a main dilemma facing schools. Encouraging positive relationships whilst preventing disruption, and motivating students to learn, raises concerns for any teacher. Roland Chaplain handles a variety of critical issues with clarity and vision. He offers a highly practical approach and discusses in detail how teachers cope with stress, how whole school strategies can minimise disruptive behaviour, and how to effectively intervene with students who have emotional and behavioural difficulties. Packed full of activities, case studies and questions to foster readers' own evaluations, Teaching without Disruption in the Primary School is an indispensable guide for all teachers.

About the Author :
Roland Chaplain is Senior Lecturer in Psychology of Education at Homerton College, Cambridge. He teaches courses on behaviour management and motivating the difficult to teach to undergradute and graduate students.

Review :
'The author provides a great deal of interesting and well-researched information which will be of interest especially to young teachers beginning to get to grips with their professional careers.' Frank Merrett, Educational Review 'This is a thought-provoking book, with a good mix of theory and practical application. it also includes topics and ideas that are not always considered in more narrow treatments of the issue of student behaviour. The focus on the school as an organisation and the implications of various leadership styles of the senior managers in the school will be food for thought...I would recommend this book to both teachers in preparation and to experienced teachers, and it should remain on their shelves for reference from time to time.' - Robyn Beaman, Educational Review, November 2005
