Not illustrated. 1885 Excerpt: ...in the stores of the society during the quarter, after deducting 5 per cent, for the capital account, 24 per cent, for the reserve fund, 10 per cent, for the direction, 5 per cent, for the bookkeeper, and 2 per cent, for the administrator. The report for the quarter ending March 31, 1884, shows the following: Number of members January 1, 1884, 737; new members during quarter, 29; total, 766; number of members withdrawn during quarter. 22, so that the society had 744 members on April 1, 1884. The receipts during the quarter amounted to 28,043.54 francs, leav ing a gain of 5,102.60 francs. Income from other sources was 1,217.03 francs, making the total profits 6,370.92 francs. Expenses amount to 2,694.34 francs, leaving a net gain of 3,865.58 francs forthe first quarter of this year. After deducting from this amount the above, stipulated allowances, amounting to 917.08francs, the amount for dividends to the members was 2,568.50 francs, or 6; per cent, on the amount, for which each member bad bought goods at the different stores of the society. The reserve fund amounted to 3,832.06 francs on March 31, 1884, invested in 4J per cent, bonds of the Rotterdam Mortgage Bank for the Netherlands. On April 28, 1884, the direction issued a pamphlet report, in which it recorded the history of the society for the ten years of its existence, and in which the following statement was published: The number of women and children employed in manufactories at Rotterdam, or eveuan approximation thereat, cannot be given, for the reason that no such statistics are published by the local authorities.
