By perusing the above results of the State Oratorical contests since '75, it will be seen that Oberlin has won first place six times and second place six timci. She took first place in '77, '78, '79, '81, '84 and '86, and second place in '80, '81, '82, '83, '85 and '88. It will be noticed also that Oberlin has taken either first or second place every year but one, '87, since '77. There is a seeming anomaly about the contest of '81, which will be understood when it is explained. '81 was the last year before the State Association was formed under its present organization.
