Now both these facts have long been known to the regular profession and a knowledge of them utilized in practice. They further know that it is only certain forms of vomiting that may be checked by this remedy, and that in any case it is unreliable. It i especially pertinent to add that there is an almost infinite difference between the small dose of the regularschool and the infinitesimal one of the irregular. If, therefore, the two systems are ever to be united it must be through an abandonment by the homceopathists of all puerilities of doctrine 'and inconsistencies of practice; together with that of the distinctive title of homceopathist. A word as to the term "allopath" or "allopathic." There is no such school of medicine as this in existence. This title is one that was applied by the homoeopathists to the regular school of medicine, as an expression of stigma or reproach. The term is often ignorantly used by those who are not friendly to the homoeopathic system. There is, rightly speaking, but one school or system of medicine. This is the school to which have belonged all the most distinguished surgeons and accomplished physicians of ancient and modern times; the system of medicine to which the world owes every discovery in physiology, pathology, and therapeutics that has ever been of substantial benefit to mankind. This is the so called "old" school. Its age and achievements should and does form its principal claim upon public confidence. There is as little danger that this system shall be supplanted by homoeopathy as that the doctrines of Nihilism and Socialism shall ever...
