About the Book

This historic book may have numerous typos and missing text. Purchasers can download a free scanned copy of the original book (without typos) from the publisher. Not indexed. Not illustrated. 1872 Excerpt: ...The nipple key containing a pair of nipples and a screw-driver. 80. A macintosh india-rubber gun cover. I hand in a certified copy of excerpts from letters from Lord Aberdeen to his mother and brother. (Mr. Attorney General.) These are copies, are they not? Yes. Sir Roundell Palmer stated that the original letters would be produced on a future day by Lady Aberdeen, who would prove the receipt of them, and that they were in the handwriting of her son George. Mr. Attorney General stated that he would not object to the reception of the copies of the excerpts from the letters de bene esse. The certified copy of Excerpts was handed in, and is as follows: I.--Excerpts from Letters from the late Right Honourable George Gordon No. 7. Earl of Aberdeen to his mother the Right Honourable Mary Countess of Aberdeen. 1.--Excerpt from Letter dated "Liverpool, Saturday." (Post-mark "Liverpool, 28th Jan. '66.") You will be surprised that I am not off, and in fact so am I, but we waited for a fair wind, and yesterday the capt. got drunk and luckily lost the keys of the cabin where the chronometers are kept, so that the owner with the old brown coat found him out and dismissed him. I have a nice large cabin all to myself, but it is rather dark; there is a nice fire close to the door, so that I won't be cold, only we take some gunpowder as cargo, so much care must be used, and it is a good thing to get rid of a drunken captain. 2.--Excerpt from Letter dated " River Mersey, Monday 10." (Post-mark "Liverpool, 12th Feb. '66.") You will no doubt be surprised to get this so soon, but the fact is such fearful gales have prevailed of late from N.W. that it has been impossible to get to sea. You may be glad to hear this, as if the same hurricane...
