Kleine is uncertain of the place of these in the cycle, but is disposed to put them near the Trypanosoma gambiense of mammalian blood (scheine-n sie dem fertigen Tnjpanosoma gambiense des StiugetierbluL nicht fern zu stehen). He found also in the proventriculus masses of trypanosom.es which merged in one another and were indistinguishable; chromatin inclusions were numerous; he believes that a sexual multiplication can take place hi the resting stage of the parasites. The limit of infectivity of the flies has not yet been determined; Taute had a captive Glossina morsitans which conveyed trypanosomes after eightythree days. Kleine stresses the fact that all his observations were made on flies bred from the pupa. He proposes now to try to ascertain whether the flies of a region threatened with Sleeping Sickness are already infective and whether those of a region deserted on account of the disease are infective still. The paper is illustrated by forty-two figures drawn by Taute; it is dated April 18th. Kleine's dissections as far as they go have not brought to light any case of hereditary flagellate infection in Globsina palpalis. If it occurs it must be rare. His method of examining the flies is simple and does not require great technical skill. He uses the expression " sexual forms " throughout but has not yet obtained any evidence that any sexual process occurs.
